OUR STORY
St. Cloud’s neighborhood pharmacists since 1958.
Hapeth Prescription Shop was founded on July 1, 1958. Located at 1301 33rd St. South, St. Cloud, MN, the name, Hapeth was created using the first two letters of each of the Medical Group doctors –Dr. Halenbeck, Dr. Peterson, and Dr. Thuringer. The first pharmacist of Hapeth Prescription Shop was Al Stearns. At that time, computers didn’t exist in the workplace. Everything from the patient profiles and filing systems to the correspondence written on Al’s typewriter was done manually. As business grew Hapeth added an employee to help keep the ball rolling.
Pharmacist Rollie Schroer came to work for Al in 1963 and purchased the pharmacy a year later. All prescription related work was still done manually and as the medical practice grew, with new doctors, so did the clinic. The location of the pharmacy within the building changed to allow for growth.
Pharmacist Don Wegner started working relief for Rollie and bought the pharmacy from him in 1982. Rolls soon reversed with Rollie working relief for Don. When Rollie retired, Shannon Corrigan started working for Don to cover vacations and time off. Soon after, Hapeth became computerized and additional supportive personnel and technicians were added.
When the St. Cloud Medical Group expanded to its Northwest location, pharmacist Craig Carney was added as a partner along with pharmacist Teri Olson and additional technicians. The two pharmacies’ computer systems were linked together to better serve our patients needs. The expansion of the St. Cloud Medical Group in February of 2006 saw the downtown location move to 1301 33rd Street South.
Hapeth Prescription Shop is the last remaining independently owned pharmacy in St. Cloud. We pride ourselves with our customer service and our ability to work with the doctors of the St. Cloud Medical Group to better the health of our patients.
